Mobile workforces find cloud platforms beneficial
Companies that have a mobile workforce could find the cloud computing platform particularly beneficial, according to a business expert.
Enterprises are already experiencing the advantages of a mobile workforce, and cloud computing could help to cater to the needs of corporate mobility in a better way.
Tim Weber, business editor of the BBC News website, said: "Workforces are becoming ever more mobile, while staff - from the chief executive down - carry smartphones and tablet computers, and expect that they can use them to access their work files everywhere."
He added that cloud eliminates the need for a major IT infrastructure investment, and thus helps firms to save money. It is much cheaper than the traditional software approach.
Migration to the cloud has a number of benefits as it enables applications, documents, emails and other information to be stored and managed online, making them available through portable devices.
However, firms also need to understand the implications of using the cloud platform before they incorporate it in their business strategies.
