Lenovo plans to launch the latest version of its LePad tablet device
Lenovo has announced plans to launch the latest version of its LePad tablet device, aiming to curtail the popularity of Apple iPad 2.
Although the Chinese firm has not yet revealed the specifications of the upcoming Lepad 2, it is likely to be equipped with Google's Android 3.0 "Honeycomb" operating system.
The gadget is also likely to feature a small display. The original Lepad included a 10.1-inch panel and a 1.3GHz Snapdragon processor.
Company chief Yang Yuaning said Lenovo is hoping its new tablet would prove to be a strong contender to Apple's latest device at least in the Chinese market.
Lenovo LePad is expected to go on sale end of March 2011. However, it is not likely to reach the UK until later this year.
