Seagate has announced its new GoFlex Satellite mobile wireless storage
Seagate has announced its new GoFlex Satellite mobile wireless storage, the first battery-powered external hard drive to wirelessly extend the storage capacity of a Wi-Fi-enabled mobile device.
With 500GB of storage capacity and a rechargeable battery, the latest member of the GoFlex range of external hard drives offers users the ability to carry video, music, pictures and documents with them.
Users can wirelessly connect iOS, Android or any Wi-Fi-enabled device to the GoFlex Satellite using GoFlex Media app, thus transferring video, pictures, music and documents to and from the hard drive.
The GoFlex Media app is currently available only for iOS devices, with the Android app coming this summer.
Meanwhile, Android users can access video, pictures, music and documents stored on the device via their tablet or smartphone's browser.
The GoFlex Satellite has up to 25 hours of standby battery life, or can stream video continuously for four hours.
