Sony has announced plans to launch a new tablet computer this year, featuring Google's Android 3.0 'Honeycomb' operating system.
Speaking to Japan's Nikkei newspaper, company chief executive Sir Howard Stringer said the new device would be released by the end of the summer.
The electronics giant is yet to reveal further details regarding the tablet.
During the Consumer Electronics Show 2011, the firm indicated that it is working on a tablet PC, but declined to comment on its features.
According to reports, the company had been working on a "S1" tablet and a folding "S2" version.
The upcoming tablet computer could be built around Nvidia's quad-core Tegra processor.
