Fujitsu to launch new tablet PC

Fujitsu, which has recently released its 10.1in LifeBook TH40/D tablet PC

Fujitsu, which has recently released its 10.1in LifeBook TH40/D tablet PC, is planning to launch another model featuring Google's Android operating system.

The TH40/D tablet device, equipped with Windows 7 OS, was mainly targeted at the enterprise market.

However the new 7in model is specially designed to cater to the demands of the consumer market. It is likely to be made available in the third quarter of 2011.

The latest tablet computer, which runs Android 3.1 "Honeycomb" OS, is expected to be priced at about $350 (£216).

The Japanese firm is yet to reveal further details regarding the new product. However, it is likely to outsource production of the device to Taiwan-based original design manufacturers.

Meanwhile, Fujitsu is also planning to add support for a stylus and 3.5G module to the future LifeBook TH40/D models.

In addition, the manufacturer has introduced its new LifeBook S-series notebooks and 12in LifeBook P-series notebooks.
